Loss of Bridge of Promise causes traffic
When the Bridge of Promise in Batangas City collapsed last October 31, 2009, (Because of the typhoon Santi) the city has been experiencing awful traffic coming from almost everywhere. It will take from 30 minutes to 1 hour to reach a certain destination. It has been mentioned in the news that the restoration of the Bridge of Promise will cost P100 million. It has been evident that the bridge’s loss really affected many Batanguenos. It is very hard to catch a jeepney ride during rush hours. Routes have been adjusted to avoid heavier traffic. A plate number coding scheme has been implemented so that influx of vehicles will be limited passing the alternative Calumpang Bridge.
With these, everyone is hoping that the Bridge of Promise will be repaired soon. The only question is when?

Thank you for this info. I was looking for some sites that could give me the traffic situation in Batangas City, but can’t find one until I read your post. I was hoping to spend some time there this weekend, but I guess that will have to be postponed until the bridge is fixed.
